"Absolute Beginner" Ukulele Jam, second and fourth Wednesday evenings
Bill McKeeth, local performing musician and board member of the Idaho Bluegrass Association, is leading
beginner learning sessions at the Hillcrest Library branch, Overland and Orchard Roads. These free instructional sessions for absolute beginners on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings from 6 pm – 8 pm. All are welcome.
This is not an official extra BUG event, but Bill certainly has our blessing to proceed, especially since we as a club no longer provide basic instruction or lessons. As people learn and build skills, he will also direct them to join our twice monthly jams at Meadow Lakes. Check in here regularly for updates.
Regretfully our teachers (Karen, Earl, and Susan) have all stopped doing private lessons due to their busy personal schedules, and because of minimal or intermittent demand.
For private lessons, we suggest that you contact Jonah at Old Boise Music Studios in downtown Boise, above Pengilly's
Sorry, but we don't have any other handy suggestions for local teachers. Sometimes there are Craigslist ads for ukulele teachers under "musical instruments".
If a group of four or more approached a teacher, then group lessons might be arranged. BUG will not maintain a waiting list, however. You have to assemble your own group and contact one of our instructors to arrange something. Candidly, we've not had much luck putting together small group lessons.
